Optimize Your Mastercam Training with MCAM Northwest: 5 Key Questions to Consider
Getting the most from your Mastercam training means more than understanding software features—it’s about applying those tools to your unique machining needs. Our MCAM Northwest training sessions are crafted to fit your specific processes and goals, ensuring the best value for your time.
Here’s a checklist of five essential questions to prepare for a successful session.
How Can Custom Mastercam Training Improve CNC Programming Efficiency?
Custom Mastercam training enhances CNC programming efficiency by focusing on tools and techniques specific to your processes, saving time on the shop floor. Tailored sessions match team skill levels, helping programmers quickly master relevant features and boost productivity.
1. Are You Familiar with Mastercam Basics?
Mastercam fundamentals are essential, even if you’ve used older versions of the software. With recent updates, Mastercam has evolved, and navigating the current version may feel different from previous iterations. To refresh your skills, explore Mastercam University’s free online resources. Creating a free account provides access to valuable lessons, and we frequently integrate these resources into our training sessions to enhance learning.
Note: We recommend signing up for your MastercamU Account and explore it a bit before your custom class. We may reference some of the study materials here.
2. Is Your Hardware Ready?
Save time by prepping your hardware in advance. Make sure your equipment and software for video conferencing are fully functional. A microphone is recommended for virtual training sessions, with dial-in options available if needed, and headphones can prevent echo if multiple people are participating. While cameras are optional, they can enhance communication during sessions. Most importantly, check your computer meets the latest Mastercam hardware requirements. If you have technical difficulties, reach out to our support team at support@mcamnw.com or (503) 653-5332.
3. Is Your Software Updated?
Ensure you’re using the latest Mastercam version and updates before your session. If the training focuses on a specific machine, be sure its post-processor is installed. Disable automatic updates during training to prevent disruptions, and make sure you have admin privileges to share your screen or have IT assistance on hand.
If you do not have enough Mastercam licenses for every programmer on your team that needs training, no worries! We can conduct training for you on all products regardless of what your license allows. If you need additional licenses for your team, contact our Sales Team to explore your options sales@mcamnw.com.
4. What Specific Skills Do You Need?
Targeted learning is key to efficient training. When filling out our training request form, clarify the Mastercam products you need to focus on, whether it’s Mill, Lathe, Multi-Axis, Design, or another tool. Identifying product experts within your team helps everyone focus on their primary tasks. For update training, specify your previous Mastercam version to ensure tailored guidance.
5. Is Your Team’s Skill Level Aligned?
Grouping programmers with varied experience levels into one training session may sound efficient, but it’s usually better to separate them. Set realistic goals for each team member based on experience and arrange customized sessions that match their skill levels. Indicate each team member’s experience level on the training survey to help us deliver relevant instruction.
Taking the time to answer these questions with your team can help you maximize the value of your training. MCAM Northwest offers customized training for all current Mastercam users. Fill out our training request form to schedule your session!
