Video Transcript:

It’s springtime, and that means Mastercam is now in Beta. Mastercam 2025 Beta 2 is currently available as of the time of recording this video, but whether you’re doing Beta 2 or a Beta that’s farther down the line the instructions for installing that Beta are pretty much the same.

In this blog, I want to walk you through how to install the Mastercam Beta. Now, before I show you, there is one requirement: you must be current on your Mastercam maintenance in order to run the Beta.

Let’s get into it. So the first thing we’re going to do is go to Mastercam.com. From there, in the upper right-hand corner, go ahead and log in. Once you’re all logged in you should be at my.mastercam.com. What you’re going to do at this point is hover over the downloads menu. In this list, you should see “Public Beta”. Go ahead and click there. Here you’ll see some more information, go ahead and go to the bottom and click on the red button that says ‘Download Public Beta Now.’ Then from this page, we’re going to click on the top option to download the full installation. Once that’s finished downloading we’ll go ahead and minimize this and we’ll bring up a Windows File Explorer panel. Go to your downloads and you should find your Mastercam 2025 Beta executable here.

Once you find the Mastercam Beta installer, go ahead and double-click. You may get a popup from Windows where you have to click yes to continue.

Once the package has finished extracting we get the installer window. Go ahead and click on the top option, Mastercam 2025 Installs, and select the language. If you want something other than English you’ll need to use the check box for ‘My language is not in the drop-down above’ and use the language pack option, however, I don’t think this is really available for the Beta in general so we’ll stick with English.

Now click on “next”. From this page, you can change your name and company name by clicking on ‘Configure Mastercam.’ You can go ahead and change those here if need be. You can choose which units you want to use here and you can choose whether you want this to be installed for all users, meaning any Windows login, or only for me, meaning only on your Windows login.

Down here we have the location of the shared defaults folder and the destination folder. It’s highly recommended that you do not touch either of these, just use the defaults. Once that’s good to go click on done then click next.

On this screen go ahead and choose yes to accept the terms and click next. Now Mastercam is actually installing. We just need to wait for this to finish. When it’s done installing you should get a window letting you know that everything’s complete. Go ahead and click exit.

You will probably need to restart your computer after you do this, so go ahead and click okay here to restart now or use the option to restart later. I don’t recommend opening Mastercam if you’re using the option to restart later, this option just gives you a chance to save everything before you reboot your system.

After rebooting we see the Mastercam 2025 shortcut right on the desktop. Let’s go ahead and start it. Here we can see the splash screen for Mastercam 2025. As long as you see something in the license number field, that means it pulled your license successfully. Do note that the first time you run Mastercam it’s probably going to take a little bit longer because it has to build certain files and folder structures.

Once Mastercam is finished starting up for the first time, you’re going to get the feedback program pop-up. You can choose whether or not you want to participate. I’ll go ahead and participate. And now Mastercam’s up and running. Of course, you will need to run the migration wizard if you want to actually run your machine definitions and posts in this version. You can’t simply copy those files up. If you want information on how to use the migration wizard, follow the steps in this KB article. The article was written for 2024, but the steps are the same for 2025

That’s really all there is to it! Mastercam Beta is now installed. You can go through the file tab, go down to help, and see “what’s new”, to check out some of the new features in Mastercam 2025. If you notice anything that isn’t working the way that you expect it to, make sure that you reach out to us and let us know that you’re seeing a problem and we’ll make sure to get that up to corporate. And finally, have a little bit of fun knowing that you get to help shape Mastercam in the direction that you want to see it and you get to play with the toys before anyone else!

We hope that was helpful to you! Follow our Tech Tip series for more Mastercam tips and tricks.
