Four Benefits of a Mastercam.com Account

Have you ever wished for a central location where you can find everything you need related to programming inside of Mastercam? Look no further! Mastercam.com has the option to create your own account, which then provides access to practically everything you need as a CNC programmer.

Creating a Mastercam.com account, and linking it to your Mastercam license, offers you access to various parts of the website that are not accessible without a login. Additionally, there are some changes in access depending on whether your account is on maintenance or not. (Being current on maintenance is definitely more effective and allows for access to more items!) With current maintenance, there are four main sections that you can access with a Mastercam.com account. Let’s take a minute to go through these sections.

What are the main benefits of a Mastercam.com account?
With a Mastercam.com account and current maintenance, the four main sections of the website that you can access are the tech exchange, the forums, the knowledge base, and Mastercam University.

Benefit #1: Mastercam University

Mastercam University is an online Mastercam training platform that is free to everyone who logs in with a Mastercam.com account. Fact, you don’t even need a license of Mastercam to use this product! Mastercam University is an excellent way to learn Mastercam from the basics of the interface and design up through Multiaxis.

With Mastercam University you can build a pathway to maintain your expertise in Mastercam as it evolves or work through the courses to give yourself (or your teams) the understanding and confidence to work in Mastercam as you develop and further refine your CNC programming skillsets.

Benefit #2: The Tech Exchange

The tech exchange is a page where you can download files for use inside of Mastercam. The types of files that you can download range from free generic post processors and tool libraries to example files and more. For Mill-Turn users, there is also access to downloadable component libraries, which can provide you with tool locators and chucking components.

In a world where a digital copy of everything in your shop is very important, you can save yourself some work by downloading files from the tech exchange rather than building everything on your own.

Benefit #3: The Knowledge Base

The knowledge base is a repository of information that can help you track down potential issues with Mastercam. If you’re experiencing any issues, you can check the knowledge base on Mastercam.com to see if that error has been posted. If it has, then you may have a solution available to you without even needing to contact support.

Of course, MCAM Northwest’s support team is always happy to help with any issues that you may have. But you may be surprised to find that a significant number of the support requests that we get are actually answered by these knowledge-base articles.

Benefit #4: The Forum

The forum is an excellent place to post about Mastercam and give feedback to the Mastercam developers. Mastercam is extremely proud of the fact that they base a significant portion of their development time on community suggestions. In general, most of these community suggestions actually come from the Mastercam.com forum, where people suggest new features, updates to existing features, and suggestions on things like workflow and functionality.

If you have ever wanted something to be different in Mastercam, then the forum is the place to go. We encourage you to go to the forum and search for what it is you want to be changed. If someone else has already posted the same thing, then you can add a plus one to that forum post. If no one else has asked for this in the past then go ahead and write your own post. Make sure that you try to include as much information as possible, such as specific steps, screenshots, and the benefits of the functionality that you are suggesting.

Did you know that you can have quick access to all of these pages right from your Mastercam interface?

In the upper right-hand corner of Mastercam, just above the graphics window, there is a button labeled MyMastercam. When you click on this button, you have the option to enter your login information. Once you are logged in there, you have access to several shortcuts to Mastercam.com, including the homepage, blogs, forums, knowledge base, and more.
