Cimco’s DNC solution makes managing machine programming files easy for enterprises and small businesses.

Some shops have programmers putting part programs on USB drives and walking them over to machines. It is, of course, inconvenient to have to walk back and forth and go through the motions of uploading the data to each machine, but it also comes with many risks. Risks, such as keeping outdated programs on machines, breaking the storage device, putting the program on the wrong machine or failing an audit, to name a few.

Direct Numerical Control systems (DNC) take all the part program files shared with your CNC machines and puts them in a central location, so they can be easily accessed and edited. For shops with older machines or machines with limited memory, it’s also a way to feed it larger programs, one block at a time.

DNC is a first step to MDC (machine data collection) or Machine Monitoring. As your business expands, it becomes more critical to know what your machines are doing, and for how long. DNC is the first step to tying your shop together in preparation for Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things

Cimco DNC-Max is a DNC application that works with your existing CNC software for file transfers for multiple servers from a single point. Unlike other DNC software, DNC-Max is a very scalable solution that works with CNC machines, even robots. DNC-Max can support up to 4,000 ports, meaning, it can fit the needs of the corporate enterprises with thousands of machines, in multiple remote facilities, to the small shop that only has two machines.

The PC, mobile, and browser clients for DNC-Max can access the machine data from LAN, WAN, and internet servers. Through hardwired internet connection you can browse files directly on the server and machines can download programs instantaneously. DNC-Max works both as an on-demand application or as a service that runs in the background.

Cimco DNC-Max has a sophisticated web client that can be accessed from desktop, mobile, tablet and TV.

You can request and edit files directly from the DNC application on the desktop or from a mobile device. If a file on DNC Max is edited or deleted by an operator, the file is automatically stored in a “quarantine” area, giving you the ability to track changes and revert to previous versions of the file to prevent permanent data loss.

Any program changed by the operator and sent back to DNC-Max can raise inversion or be placed into a quarantine area. This gives you the ability to track changes and restore older file versions.

Another key feature about Cimco’s products is that they are a suite, meaning they are designed to work together. Cimco DNC-Max has a seamless integration with CIMCO Edit, a G-code editor, and can be purchased as an add-on for it.

In addition to the stand-alone PC Client, the full DNC-Client is also available as an add-on for CIMCO Edit providing a seamlessly integrated application interface.

DNC-Max works with standard RS-232 communications serial communications hardware, which can be installed by Craig Daniels Consulting.
